Artist's Bio/Statement

Eric Semelroth was born in Chicago. He received his Master of Fine Arts degree from Northwestern University and his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, majoring in Painting
both times.

He teaches art at College of DuPage. He has taught at other institutions in the Chicago area including Harper College, Triton College, and Northwestern University.

Semelroth has been the recipient of numerous awards. In 2003, the Harper College Educational Foundation purchased his portrait of "The Butcher" for their art collection. In 2002, he was awarded a grant from the George Sugarman Foundation. In 2000, he was awarded an Illinois Arts Council Artists Fellowship Award. In 1999, he was awarded Best of Show at the Norris Cultural Arts Center national juried exhibition in St. Charles, Illinois. He is one of 71 artists featured in Art Scene Chicago 2000, Crow Woods Publishing, Evanston, Illinois.

Semelroth has had one person shows at the Union League Club of Chicago, Harper College, Contemporary Art Workshop, Triangle Gallery of Old Town in Chicago, Northern Indiana Arts Association in Munster, Indiana, and the Contemporary Art Center in a Chicago suburb. In recent years he has also exhibited locally at the Chicago Athenaeum, Chicago Art Open, Fine Arts Building Gallery, ARC Gallery, Rockford Art Museum, the Riverside Arts Center, Galesburg Civic Art Center, and College of DuPage.
