Artist's Statement

Howard was born in 1925 in Chicago and raised in Highland Park where he lived with his wife of many years and raised his family. He was a veteran serving in World War II as a medic in the U.S. Army and attended the University of Illinois where he majored in architecture. He owned and operated Howard Displays, Inc., designers and producers of industrial exhibits and commercial interiors.

A prolific artist, Howard worked in oils, acrylics, serigraphs, watercolors, inks and pencils. He also has created sculptures with plexiglass. On commission, he created renderings of homes and personalized notes and  holiday cards. His paintings hang in private homes, offices and restaurants in the United States and in Europe.  His work in the fields of art and design  won national awards including one from Terry National Art Museum in Miami, Florida.  East on Central, a local art and poetry magazine, published several of his paintings in their poetry books and he was juried into Celebrating Diversity 2007 in Highland Park.

He exhibited his artwork in many of Anatomically Correct's exhibitions, plein air art festivals in Skokie, IL and our Highland Park Art Walks, Evanston Art Walks and Southport Art Walk in Chicago, IL, as well as our exhibitions at the Apollo Theatre in Chicago and the Paramount Arts Centre in Aurora, IL.  He also displayed and sold his art in Anatomically Correct's Pop Up Art Gallery in Highland Park, IL.

Howard enjoyed including images of musicians in his artworks as he was greatly influenced by his son Jim Jacob's talent and love of music.

Howard's son's jazz band the The Jim Jacobs Trio played during many of Anatomically Correct Art's receptions and awards celebrations.
